David Warner’s Act On Phil Hughes 3rd Death Anniversary During Ashes Made Everyone Teary Eyed!

There have been many emotional moments and tributes from Australian cricketers since the tragic death of Phil Hughes in November 2014 and they keep on coming. It has been three years and no one forgets that day. The whole cricketing fraternity was left shocked after the incident.
Phillip Hughes Death Anniversary
Today, it marks the third death anniversary of Hughes and a sign commemorating Hughes was unveiled at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Monday. One of his then team-mates David Warner paid an equally fitting tribute to his mate with a classy gesture when he reached 63 not out, the score Hughes was on when he was fatally struck by the ball on the same ground.

Warner looked skywards after running three runs which took him to the score which Hughes got in his last innings on 22 yards. Warner also became emotional during that period and the team is clearly missing their friend even after three years.

Australia was on the edge of victory on the final morning of the 1st Ashes Test against England. The overnight batsmen Cameron Bancroft and Warner were seen coming out to bat wearing the armbands on their jersey which had written PH on it and paid tribute to Hughes.

Even the commentators on air remembered the cricketer and the crowd loved the gesture from Warner lauding him after the replays were shown on the screen at the Gabba.

Phillip Hughes was hit on the unprotected part of his neck below the helmet exactly three years ago during the Sheffield Shield season. The bowler Sean Abbott bowled blazing bouncer to the batsmen and Hughes fended at it a little bit awkwardly and crashed on the ground straightaway after being hit.

Warner tribute to Hughes

He was soon taken to the hospital and even after the efforts of the doctors he passed away leaving the nation and the cricketing world shocked. Australia gave the perfect tribute to Hughes by winning the first Ashes Test of the ongoing five-match series on the third anniversary of his tragic death.

The openers David Warner and Bancroft added 56 more runs which were required to seal the game. They chased the target of 170 with all the wickets in hand in the first hour of the final morning of the Test match.
